Hi,

Over the last few weeks I found myself using nBook a lot more than before and finally decided to "tune up" View+ and prepare new release 2.17.
Actually, I wasn't very happy with menu system organization (both in Note+ file manager and in transparent mode - system screen) and also with some basic shortcuts use like "Enter" and "Fn+Enter".

- I already reorganized menu items in order to make menus more intuitive and logical.

- Some most important Note+ file manager shortcuts are changed.
"Enter" is now used to run files and "Fn+Enter" to view files (apply V+ viewers on files).
"Space" now toggles panels (1 or 2) and "Ctrl+W" is used for assigning/viewing notes assigned to files/folders.

- "Log viewer" can be opened both from Note+ and in transparent mode via menu item.

- "Sort" dialog in Note+ is improved - show current modes.

- "Compacting" files/folders process can be paused/stopped now.

- Multirename reverse (using .REN log files") is improved.

- A lot more small changes done.

If you are still using View+ on your nBooks and 5mx machines and would like to see some features improved or any bugs fixed, please post your requests in this thread.
Also any suggestions of how to further tune it up and make it even more productive and usable are welcome. On the other hand, it is not reasonable to expect me to add new features Wink

Oh, do keep the old version numeration, please Wink

As to major changes (aka new features Wink ) I think that adding/deleting/extracting files to/from zip archives is not perfect.
If it'd be possible to "enter" archives showing their content in an usual N+ panel, and to add (copy/move etc.) files to/from archive to/from the other panel directly (not via file buffer)...
Like we have in nArchive+...

But if implemented, this should be an exclusion - "Enter" key must not launch an archive but to view it!

Leo

P.S. Did you receive my letter provoking into some [new?] feature? Wink

Sorry. It's already corrected both in text and in title Smile

This is an old request, yes. I was reluctant to do it first because of the surprisingly missing "delete" feature in Zipenx.opx, zip/unzip library. So deleting/moving files would not be possible. There could be a clumsy workaround - extracting all files and re-archiving some - but I don't like the idea at all.
And, second, it would need a new routine which will feed the panel(s) with archive content. In fact, N+ now reads and display file system "directly", w/o "bufferizing" it first. It's one of the reasons of its speed Wink
Let me try and see what we get.

Of course Wink

Hello Edo,

I asked it a long time ago,:

1 - When I do a backup with V+, V+ don't backup openfiles like my Agenda. Can you look at it?

2 - V+ for the 5MX, is it possible that the titlebar, gets an other colour??

Is it missed really or the description is absent?
I see there are both "delete" and "replace" present in ZipEnx.rsc...

Maybe the right solution (if deletion is not possible) is to abandon "delete" function at all?

Correct, those functions are present in the RSC file but NOT in the library itself Sad

Yes. And still I 'd have to do a lot of (smart) coding to incorporate all this into N+ interface (panels).

Edo,

Hmm. I've expected this question Wink
If you mean plugins, then NO. There already exists powerfull command line (VCL scripts).
On the other hand, probably a plugin panel could be implemented, to enable
more user friendly interface for VCL and batch (Bat+) files.
Still, there are some other things to do with View+, and one is to release final ver. 2.16 with Fritz's suggestions implemented.
Actually, it's already done long time ago, but I have to wrap it into a SIS and pack and publish.

Now I ask it again Smile

Sorry Kees for the late answer. I completely overlooked your post.
No I don't think it is reasonable to implement macro interface into V+ like it is done for FileNote.
Simply, there was no macro support on S80 machines and I just wanted to fill that gap. Successfully or not, it's up to users to judge.
There is no need to do it in V+ besides M5 and other great apps that take use of it. Maybe you have some arguments I am not aware of at the moment?

View+ for nBook v. 2.17 RC1 uploaded to "Downloads">"netBook"
http://viewplus.myfreeforum.org/about95.html

This is nBook version only. I cannot say if and when a version for 5mx will be released.

Hi Edo,

I have nothing to report regarding v. 2.17 - all works for the present.

But there is one suggestion: when copying files in 2-panel mode (N+), we have to go to the opposite panel to set target directory.
What about setting a hotkey to change opposite panel drive?
Let it be Fn+Ctrl+Q for example...
N+ remembers the last path used for each drive, so in many cases just switching drive for the opposite panel should be sufficient...

Good idea. Done. Hotkey Shift+W used. Easier to press.

View+ 2.17 RC2

+ Hotkey Shift+W to change opposite panel drive path in Note+ file manager.
N+ remembers the last path used for each drive. Thanks Leo.

+ added sort cycling feature to Note+ file manager.
Consecutively pressing Shift+S will toggle sorting by name (asc), by extension (asc), by size (desc) and by date (desc).
This feature is ported from FileNote S80. Original idea by Wolfgang Golder.

Fix: Jump to buttonbar action in Note+. It used to add bookmark instead of jumping to current folder in system screen. Thanks Kees.

Any more ideas?

I'd suggest to add Help-on-Hotkeys to the menu.
There is one already for VCL commands.
Why not to show Note+_Keys_Pen_Use file as a Help window (via some hotkey), like it is implemented in case of VCL?

Ufff! Almost a mission impossible Wink
It would contain more than 150 items! Who would write all that? If somebody would do it I'll be happy to include it.

But there is one already - bundled with v.2.15! Wink
Called Note+_Keys_Pen_Use.txt...
Needs some corrections of course, but is just the right thing to use!
