There are some small problems I have with View+:
1. Since Version 2, when I set a time stamp to 00:00:00 (h:m:s), I always get the message, that it must at least be 00:00:01. Nevertheless everything is done correctly. When doing the same with multiple files, there is no error message.
2. Every time I change file properties, my Shell.ini is changed too. I don't know why, other applications dön't do that.
3. I don't like unnecessary dialogues, eg. when leaving HexView without changes (of course dialogue about saving changes is very meaningful).
4. When compacting files, the progress bar is rather useless: it starts when compression is finished.
5. Isn't it possible to automatically update the screen, after any operations are performed?
After all that criticism: View+ is really great! _________________ Cheers,

Easy to fix.

??? I'll have a look at it. But it sounds strange, definitely. View+ doesn't touch Shell.ini in any way!

Shall probably change it. It annoys me too

Actually, it's a progress bar of self-cancelling end dialog.
Some like it very much. Osg

In most cases it's done. Was afraid to overdo it. What specific cases?
Well, I know. It looks nice, but IMHO only vastes time.
Well, one ESC is not that annoying

After changing file properties! Note+ updates automatically, View+ does not.
Oh, I see. In principal, I hesitated to refresh View+ in system shell, to avoid ugly flickering. Unfortunately, there is no good way to do it from OPL.
Let me check it once again.

I have tested once more: it already happens, when I call the file properties (Ctrl + P), before I change anything.
HTH
Are you pressing Ctrl+P from Note+ or from the system shell (in transparent View+ mode)?
Rgds
Edo
EDIT: I presume it happens in transparent mode (in shell) when View+ has to set bookmark to current folder
in order to get fullpath of selected file. Shell.ini automatically updates new folder bookmark information (SIBookmark$: ).
Sorry, no other way to get current filepath from OPL
Yes, from the system shell (in transparent View+ mode)!
Could that 'updating new folder bookmark information' be avoided?
Sorry, this is OPL. No other way.
BTW, I don't know anyone who uses View+ in transparent mode
It's been even suggested to me to remove that mode and leave Note+ alone.

Hello Fritz,
When you work with Browser+ you get the same problem, for that reason I use always Note+
In the settings option "Browsers" and the option "Jump to folder" is pointed to "AlwaysC:\" thats my bookmark folder. When you use the other options, you get the same OPL problem. _________________ Regards,

Well, söme more testing: even with Kees' settings Shell.ini was changed. Finally I also ticked Launch Browser at startup and that was successful. I'll have to find out, if Iike to start directly with Note+ or prefer to use View+ as before. Thanks for your advice! _________________ Cheers,

ViewPlus version 1.28
The third tab - the first item. Choose your default browser: Browser+ or Note+. Browser+ gives you a screen with a directory structure, while Note+ (N+) resemble the Norton Commander structure. On paper they look alike, but it isn't. Almost at the end you can find three lines "Jump to folder". Select the first one "Selector" or "BMBox". If you choose “Selector” then you’ll see a box look alike Browser+, with “BMBox” you’ll arive in a bookmark box. When you press (Ctrl+G) that's "Jump to folder". When you select a bookmark in BMBox, then you go directly to that folder. By the second line "Jump to folder", you can choose where to begin. When you don't use "Always C:\" as default and you’ll choose Browser+ as your default browser the "Bookmark setting" in the Psion will turn that folder as default where you are with the Browser+ browser. Unfortunately it's a well-known OPL problem.

Yes Fritz,
But it is an OPL problem, not a V+ problem.
When you work only in N+ (the most of us) you don't have that problem
Thanks Kees for your fervent support
So, to resume, Shell.ini updates itself every time that "Set Bookmark" command is executed.
Macro5, for instance, is doing it regularly, when jumping to folder or getting the current (selected) file name. And many other OPL written apps, too.
So, there i no harm in that at all
