In addition to Multi-Properties Edit tool, is there any need for something like Multi-Rename Tool from Total Commander?
BTW, there is a good Batch Renamer for EPOC by OSG, but I find it somewhat complicated for use,
especially coz it's a standalone tool.
This tool could be implemented either in Note+ (using it's sophisticated file's system facilities) or in Find+,
where all kind of search conditions could be used!
I think I would prefer Note+ infrastructure as a basis for such a tool.
If you have some ideas or suggestions of what you'd like to see implemented in this tool, please say it here
Well, I also have Batch Rename Macro, but as you said, it is too difficult to use...
I'd like to have the GUI like in a normal Replace... window. But of course, it should be possible to go in an advance mode

Multi Rename Tool is practically finished!
It only needs to be implanted into N+ interface.
It will , of course, take use of all N+ file system facilities (sorting, filtering, selecting etc...).
It's very easy to use. By one click (touch) only, you set pattern components!
Also, an option will be added to save patterns for later use. And probably some more things...
Any questions? Ideas?
P.S.
It's been a piece of cake, if compared to Text Line Remover
Multi Rename Tool is finished&implanted into Note+.
All features should be clear from the screenshots.
Rename patterns are saved and can be reloaded any time.
File name can be searched/replaced etc... Also, there is a preview mode where you can check how the outcome would look like.
3rd and 4th screenshots are related to the log files that could be created in the process of multi renaming.
It can be opened (from system or from N+) and records could be reverse renamed and vice-versa.
As you could see, only one or more records can be processed at once. Also, log list can be changed, printed, searched&filtered and refreshed (to check if files still exist).
Received User Error 29:
Used Name [N], searched for Foto(???) to rename it to HandyPic(???), a message came 'all Wildcards...' and then the error came...
Will try it further

EDIT: My failure, reason is written in the warning

Jonas,
If you use wildcard ? in replacement string, both searched and replacement string must have the same length, and that is the warning you got about!
For example:
Search for: Foto(???)
Replace with: Joni(?23)
If found string is: Foto(567)
it will be replaced with: Joni(523)
Clear now?
Look how first ? in replacement string is replaced with 5 from found string!
If you still find it difficult, try using Multi Rename Tool in Preview mode.
First you can try easy things, like changing only Upper/lower case of the file names.
In this case, use pattern [N].[E]
It will leave file names intact, changing only upper/lower case! Doesn't matter if some files don't have extensions.
Then, you can proceed adding other parameters like counters etc...
Also, try creating log file. It must have extention .ren in order that you
can open it with View+. Open it like viewing any other file - ENTER in N+ or SPACE (View) from System.

Wow...
It's getting more clearlier now, yes.
I was impressed about the mass of buttons and things I can do. But now I know how it works
See you on Epocchat, maybe.
