Added GSM Location (Cell ID) Tracker.
For each CronTab job you can define actions to be triggered (macro, application, document, alarm) when you arrive to or depart the location.
Implemented "Inactivity period" settings.
A period (FROM hr:min TO hr:min) can be set in which all CronTab timers are active i.e.
perform next time calculations, but all scheduled actions are skipped (not triggered).
By the way, the design reminds me on my favorite alarm clock from a special machine
Good to see you developing, Edo!
Hi Jonas,
That's a good question and it surely deserves few words of explanation.
First, the initial idea was very simple - to port Pascal's famous CronTab from EPOC to S80 OPL because, as you may know, I already created a program for S80 machines (FileNote) which incorporates a macro system compatible with EPOC program (Pascal's too!) Macro5. In the meantime I enabled a standalone use of FileNote's macro library.
So the idea for CronTab quite naturally arised. There is no program of that kind on the communicators.
But this is what happened. Apart from the CronTab interface (graphics) nothing else couldn't work! I had to change (read: write from the scratch!) completely the very core of the program and besides of keeping most of the original procedure names I had to add a lot more routines in order to make the thing work.
Then, people started asking for the new features etc...
Even at the current stage the About information very clearly points to the original author of the program, in fact, the About info is still the original one. Ironically it's the only piece of code (along with menu and most of dialogs) which remained intact.
Now I brought myself into a very unpleasant situation! I cannot publish the program in the shape as it is now, from very clear reasons, and on the other hand, it would be now silly to change the interface and few dialogs and claim that CronTab is a quite new and original program.
As a matter of fact, CronTab S80 shares an interface and, most important, the general concept and structure with the Pascal's original CronTab for EPOC.
What to do now - that's the question!
Following the advice from the friends on the FileNote group I decided to rip out the remnants of the original Pascal's code (CronTab for EPOC) and reshape the interface in order to get more familiar S80 look and feel. Thanks guys The only thing that CronTab S80 now shares with original Pascal's CronTab is the concept of the program, dialogs structure and icons (now colorized).
In order to get more real estate on the screen the big OPL clock is removed and replaced with digital clock with day/date info.
The table/lines now contain more useful info - action type and occurrence type.
For the action type, M stands for the Macro, P - Program, D - Document, A - Alarm and S - SMS text message.
On the top of the screen the Inactivity period is displayed.
As far as I know you are a registered member of the FileNote Yahoo group and it shouldn't be a problem for you.
BTW, the group is open and free for all interested in FileNote and CronTab S80. It's only required to register (for free!)
